We booked using chase points and was not informed about the construction or that it isn't a kimpton hotel anymore which was odd... That being said, they had pastries and free coffee. Rooms were spacious and clean (guessing with the remodel) with a fridge that still seemed brand new. Pet friendly and the windows seats were awesome for my little love bird! Centrally located to everything you need and we used spot hero so our car was in the garage as we drove from upstate NY. Ironically we have paid way more for less clean and less spacious rooms on our trips so even with the surprise name change of the hotel and no lobby it was pretty great. Service was top notch and everyone was helpful for things like extra blanket, plates, and holding the door for our stroller.

I have always enjoyed this hotel. Great location and love the window seats with a great view. The rooms are recently remodeled and very nice. The lobby is under construction so no coffee or wine hour, only a reception desk. Also one elevator not working. Staff were nice as always. Now the bad news. When I arrived back last night after work the Monaco sign was gone, replaced with another name ( can’t remember I think BL?). This hotel as of 11Apr2024 is no longer a Kimpton! It was purchased by a Korean hotel brand.

First the positives - the staff was great and helped out as much as they could. The hotel lobby is under construction and is dirty and there is no restaurant or bar. The room tv didn't work and after an attempt to fix it i was moved. Only one elevator was working and wait times were long. the breakfast buffet for $18 wasn't much more than you get for free at many lesser hotels. I would wait to stay there until the renovation is complete.

My wife and I stayed here for one night in a room over looking the Chicago River with a window seat. We absolutely loved this hotel. The lobby was warm, inviting and smelled good. The floor we were on had great decor outside the rooms. The room itself was perfect and the window seat was great. The room felt luxurious, clean, and unique. Anytime we stay in Chicago, it be at this hotel.

It is hard to judge the Kimpton Monaco Chicago while it is the midst of reconstruction - but MANY shortcomings will NOT be remedied by completion. Having a restaurant, a lobby, and an elevator that stops at the breakfast/reception area might help and, hopefully, there will be an awning to ameliorate the wet on arrival and departures. However, the designer of our room should be required to stay there a couple of days to suffer the failings: the plethora of doors were constant obstacles, lighting was hard to use and not adequate, the bathroom lighting was poor for make-up and shaving, the unlighted makeup mirror did not help, the bathroom was cold, there are inadequate hooks for towels, the shower can only be controlled by leaning over the toilet, the tv distorts the picture and has poor sound, there is inadequate seating for work or snacking, and there is no coffee maker which is generally standard in most motel chains. The friendliness and general helpfulness of the staff to not compensate for the above failings,
